Hey Beauties!! Another day in lockdown and another day older. Anyone else noticing every little detail they don’t like about themselves since being in lockdown?? I’ve noticed I now have crow’s feet, they decided to show up and make a scene around the same time the local spot committee had another talent show!!

Ughh….

So right when I was giving the spot committee their eviction notice, this little package from UpCircle arrived. Have you heard of them?? I hadn’t when they first got in touch with me and the strangest thing was when they told me they made all their products out of recycled ingredients that were just being thrown away such as coffee beans and powdered olive stones amongst other things!!

Mind Blown!!

Now I’m all for trying new products but thrown out scraps?? I needed to know more!! Here’s what Co-Founder Anna shared with me…

“We make sustainable skincare products from ingredients which would otherwise be discarded, we primarily repurpose these by-product ingredients from the food industry. Our coffee scrubs alone have saved 250 tonnes of coffee grounds from simply being sent to landfills! We also repurpose brewed chai tea spices and powdered fruit stones into our range. They’re natural, vegan, sustainable, cruelty-free, handmade in the UK, organic, and housed in 100% recyclable packaging.”

Firstly, that is an INSANE amount of wasted coffee ground so it’s pure genius that Anna and her brother came up with this idea. I love that they use all-natural ingredients and that everything is cruelty-free!! Bonus point’s for recyclable packaging!! I hate when I use a product and have lots of plastic waste and are full of chemicals. So knowing this is vegan, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly is definitely a winner in my book!!

I’m always on the lookout for a new skincare routine. Sound’s silly but I need to switch it up every 6 months or so as it’s as if my skin becomes immune to the products!! This year I have been on the hunt for a good Vegan, Cruelty-free, eco-friendly brand as I’m currently trying to switch everything to eco-friendly. After trying a CBD-based product that was all-natural (You can read my post about that here) I knew I’d never go back to products that had so many different chemicals and additives.

The Products

Below is an image of what I was kindly sent to test out. I received a Pamper Kit which contained sample sizes of a mud mask, cleansing balm, and face moisturizer (may vary online). I also received 2 full-size products – Hydrating Face Serum and Coffee Face Scrub. I love how simple the packaging is, it’s clean, fresh, and easy to read what is in the ingredients and there are directions on each pack explaining how to use them.

Kindly Gifted To Me By UpCircle!!

I loved the little pamper kit and think it would be PERFECT for a girl’s night in!!! Even for a bride and her bridesmaid’s the night before the wedding.

The Cleansing Balm took my makeup off with ease, I just wish I’d had a bit more product for that extra cleaning but maybe I was just wearing a lot of makeup that day so if I had the full product I would have been fine!! It wasn’t too greasy like I’d have expected and it massaged lovely into my skin.

Once the bulk of my makeup was off, I used the Coffee Face Scrub. Now I don’t exactly know what I was expecting here but wow. First of all the smell, if you like Turkish Delight you will be in love with this product!! Personally, I’m not a lover so at first, I was not a fan!! But the more I used it the more the smell grew on me and gave more of a floral scent. When you get it out of the tube it honestly feels like someone has put a lump of brown sand on your hand haha. I learned from my mistake the first time that you really don’t need a lot of this product, a little goes a long way!! Putting it all over my face and rubbing it in was a strange sensation that at first, I didn’t know what to think about, but now I absolutely LOVE how it feels. It really gets in all those pores and clean’s out all the crap that you’ve built up throughout the day.

I did however panic that due to the roughness of the scrub that my face was going to be mega dry afterward. Again surprising me, my skin felt like I’d had a facial at the spa!! No jokes here, my skin felt smooth and as if I had been applying 10 layers of the softest moisturizer ever!! I know that sounds like such an exaggeration but honestly, I have never had this experience with a face scrub before!! I’ve been using this product a few time’s a week now and I love the clean feeling I get after using it!!

I then tried out Mud Mask. Everyone love’s a good face mask right?? Not so much to say here as you get the drill, put it on, wait for it to dry, wipe it off. Yet again, my skin felt super smooth!!

Next was the moisture which again had that slight scent of Turkish Delight. This glided onto my skin and left it feeling quite cool and very hydrated. Something I love in a moisturizer, not oily and slippery, just cooling and hydrating.

Lastly came the face oil. Now I don’t know about you beauties but when someone tells me to put oil on my face I always panic. If you’re like me and your face get’s water running down it like Niagra Falls, oil is the absolute LAST thing I’d consider adding to my routine!! I had visions of my face looking like it could fry an egg on it.

Without reading the ‘Claims’ of the oil I decided to just go for it and test it out and see how I got on then compare to see if the claims were true. Again, that famous scent was there, but at this point, my nose grew to enjoy it. I started with 3 or 4 drops and as the days went by I put it up to around 6-8 drops’ depending on how my skin was looking.

The first thing I noticed was that although it was greasy on my hands (Uhh duh Rhiannon it’s oil!) when massaged into my skin it sunk straight in and didn’t leave that dreaded frying pan look. I carried on using it daily and even tried it under makeup and even my makeup stayed in place!! Over the weeks that have now passed, I have noticed that the fine line’s I had around my mouth and between my brows have started to tighten and disappear. My skin seems to have a glow to it and just constantly feels fresh and clean. I have also notice that my breakouts aren’t so regular, (Hah take that spot committee!!). I also started using whatever residue was left on my hands to rub into the ends of my hair!! Being a hairdresser I love it when I can find the product’s that I can use on my hair as well!! My ends are looking smooth and my hair is looking pretty healthy in general.

I checked out the website and found that this oil contains rosehip, coffee, vitamin c amongst other herbal product’s that all help with skin brightening, firmness, aging, which was a pleasant discovery so that I now knew I wasn’t imaging that the oil was working great haha. I have used it every single day since!!

I think it’s safe to say I love these products and I’d like to get a few more of them to use regularly!! Having healthy skin is so important to me and I personally recommend you trying them out even if it’s just the pamper kit for a little pick-me-up. Being in lockdown has been a tough journey and sometime’s we just need to look after ourselves that little bit more!!

Do you have a fave brand for your skincare routine?? I want to know what is your fave part of skincare, mine is definitely a good facemask, I love to put one on and go read or watch an episode while I’m waiting for it to dry!! Let me know down in the comments!!

  1. Turkish Delight smelling skincare?! Now deffo that’s piqued my interest! I’ve never tried a coffee scrub myself but after reading this I might give it a go.

  2. It’s great that they are making good stuff, by recycling things that would have been discarded. The more of this that happens the better.

  3. These products ta sound exceptional and how good is it that they use such ethical processes in the manufacture of them?
    Great post, thanks for sharing

  4. Never heard of this product but love companies that consider the environment for their products. I might give this a go for my face and beard washing routine!
